Providing Respite to Children in Cyprus

Yesterday we had a great day meeting up with and sharing a special day with the children and their families undergoing treatment for childhood cancer. Our first stop was something to eat at Ezic restaurant and then the kids had the chance to pick a new pair of trainers.

A massive thank you to Ritvan and his staff at Ezic, to övgü at Kemal Saracoglu and to Ali basman and his sales team at Nike Basman. Also, special thanks and condolences go to Ada’s mum and dad, Guluzar and Murat, our bereaved parents.

Thank you so much to everyone who has made this possible and continues to support us. We continue to smile for Tanyel because you were a very special kindhearted young lady . You continue to make mummy and daddy so proud/

Athens Marathon

Athens Marathon
On Sunday 11th November 2018 I’ll be running the 36th Athens Authentic Marathon in memory of Tanyel . This will be my 3rd Marathon this year and this one for sure will be the toughest of all with plenty hills to run (or walk). Please please help me reach my target of £500 by sponsoring me on this link every penny helps giving smiles back to children going through trauma of cancer .

Thank You Yana

Yana

There are many ways in which you can support us.  Yana Smith, a friend of Tanyel’s who shared a love of gymnastics, decided to shave her hair for Tanyel’s Smile .

We can’t explain how proud we are of her, it was a fabulous gesture and great fund-raising from Yana. As she put it…..

I honestly cannot put into words how touched I am by all your amazing kind words and generous donations. I started this fundraiser thinking I would struggle to meet £200, and you smashed it in less than 24 hours! Today we hit £500 and I’m bald as a….

Tanyel was such a big part of my life as a child and she should still be here today, spreading love and kindness like she always did. Luckily her beautiful parents Gulay and Ceyhun continue to do this with their charity in her memory, Tanyel’s Smile, which is where your donations are headed!

I’m honestly so overwhelmed, and promise I’m not having a quarter life crisis, a bit of hair is nothing in comparison to the lives of children suffering from cancer and their mums, dads, sisters and brothers

Thank you all so much again xxx

Berlin Marathon

Berlin Medal 2
This week Cey completed the BMW Berlin Marathon in memory Tanyel’s Smile and raised about £200.  A big thank you to everyone who provided sponsorship.  It was very hot weather but an awesome race.  As you probably know the world record was broken by Eliud Kipchoge (he finished a little ahead of Cey).

Cey’s next marathon will be Athens on the 11th November 2018.  Any support you can offer will be gratefully received,

Thank you

2018 Kilimanjaro Marathon

Kilimanjaro

A message from the living legend Andy Sharpe.

I successfully completed the 2018 Kilimanjaro marathon last Sunday and it was the toughest but most incredible marathon I have run to date. From local kids running alongside me and Chloe, to literally having to avoid being run over for 26.2 miles route, it had everything. We were also two of only sixteen British runners last Sunday which is very special.

As most of you are aware, I dedicate most of my life away from work to fundraising. After raising over £30,000 over 6 years for the UK Children’s Cancer Charity Clic Sargent, I have now switched my fundraising to supporting Tanyel’s Smile. Since losing Tanyel to Cancer over two years ago, her parents have raised over £20,000 for Clic Sargent who provided amazing support to Tanyel and her parents during her three-year cancer battle.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Tanyel but it’s such a honour to help keep her memory alive and fulfil Tanyel’s final wish of helping children in Northern Cyprus, who don’t have the same support network that most kids in the UK recieve.

I’ve set my first fundraising milestone at £20,000 for the Charity, so any donations towards the 2018 Kilimanjaro marathon would be amazing, thank you ❤

A Message of Hope

Gulay and Cey in Cyprus

On Monday 29th January 2018 we visited the oncology ward in Northern Cyprus to give thirty gifts to the children and young adults who are being treated there. The next day we were privileged to be invited back to watch the kids receive their half term reports.

The charity, Tanyel’s Smile, which we started in memory of beautiful daughter has taken its first steps. This was Tanyel’s last wish. We are very proud to have had an amazing, inspirational daughter who blossomed into a wonderful young lady with a heart of gold.  She had a huge, positive impact on so many people .

The best gift in the world was to have you in our lives baby girl . We will continue to help and put a little smile on the faces of children fighting cancer. I hope you are proud of us princess as we are forever proud of you Tanyel.

After meeting the doctors, parents, children and young adults; seeing the support they provide and need. and getting massive hugs, we want to redouble our efforts to do all we can to raise money for for the children and families who need so much help .

Thank you to everyone in Northern Cyprus and the UK who have helped and continue to help us to build this dream for Tanyel. Together we can give a little hope and so much joy.

Gulay and Cey xx
