2018 Update – Thank You

Thank You

Happy New Year!

On behalf of Tanyel’s Smile we’d like to thank all of our generous supporters through 2017.  To date the charity has raised £5,897 since its inception in October 2017.  We’re looking forward to a busy 2018 when we hope to continue to help  many more children and their families as they struggle with the reality of cancer.

Pavilion and Muztrans

We’d also like to thank those who have contributed through collection tins, and those who have “hosted” them.  In a short time we have raised £348.72.  A big thanks go to Muztrans, The Pavilion and Freshfry Ipswich.

Cey and Gulay are travelling to Cyprus in January and will take the opportunity to liaise with the Oncology unit in Nicosia and meet young children and their families diagnosed with cancer to offer our first steps of support from Tanyel’s smile charity.  Further information and updates will follow soon.

2018 Kilimanjaro Marathon in Tanzania

Kilimanjaro

The amazing Andy Sharpe has added another date to his 2018 fundraising diary for Tanyel’s Smile – the Kilimanjaro Marathon in Tanzania.

Situated south of the equator – in Tanzania – at 5 895 metres, Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain and the highest free standing mountain in the world (as it is not part of a mountain range).  Huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit, and the sheer presence of this huge mountain dominates the entire area. An icon in Africa, “Kili“ as she is affectionately known, is one of the sights every person should see at least once in his or her life.

Every year, at the end of February/beginning March, a standard 42.2 km marathonis held in the town of Moshi, Tanzania. This race has been set up to promote the sport in Tanzania, and has the official backing of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association, the IAAF, and is registered with AIMS.

This year’s event is on March 4th 2018 and event information can be found here http://www.kilimanjaromarathon.com

Let’s hope Andy takes his factor 50!

A Big Thank You to Ilkley

Tanyel Mug

A big thank from the team and from Andy Sharpe to everyone who donated to money at the fundraising event in Ilkley.  A brilliant £215 was raised for Tanyel’s Smile.

We’d also like to thank Andy for his overwhelming support for the charity.  In addition to the recent heroic events Andy will be running the 2018 Kilimanjaro Marathon in Tanzania (see https://www.tanyelssmile.org.uk/2017/10/11/2018-kilimanjaro-marathon-in-tanzania/.)

It sounds exhausting just reading the title!

2017 Yorkshire Marathon

Good luck to Andy Sharpe who on Sunday 8th October will be running the Yorkshire Marathon.

Andy (pictured below) would like to thank Pendle Sportswear in Ilkley for creating his top free of charge.  It’s rather fetching I’m sure you’ll agree.

If you’d like to support Andy, donations can be made either through Tanyel’s Smile or on Andy’s Just Giving Page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/andrew-sharpe11

We know you won’t need it but Good Luck Andy!

Another Week, Another Marathon

Bournemouth Marathon Festival, 1 October 2016

This weekend (the 7th October 2017) Tanyel’s father Ceyhun will again be running the Bournemouth Marathon for Tanyel’s Smile.  This is the second heroic year he’ll be running along the coast (and the roads, and the pier) and we wish him well.

Hopefully the weather will be fine and the sea not too rough – we don’t want him to be washed away.  Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated and donations can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/c-uzun2tanyelssmile

Good luck Cey, and thank you!
